About Department:
The Department was established in the year 1996 with an intake of 60 students. The Department has well experienced, qualified and committed faculty to train students to meet the needs of today's competitive world. The faculty is encouraged to upgrade their knowledge by regularly attending workshops, seminars, conferences, presenting and publishing their work in peer reviewed conferences and journals. Faculty members are actively involved in research and academic development.
The department has made significant growth in terms of infrastructural and academic standards. The department has fully equipped laboratories/licensed software to impart practical knowledge of students who can take up any assignment after their graduation. The various Laboratories established in the department are Electrical Machines lab, Electronics lab, Op-amp and Linear ICs Laboratory, Microcontroller lab, Power electronics lab, Control system lab, digital signal processing lab, Power system simulation, Relay & High voltage Laboratory.
The Department arranges industrial visits for various industries and power plants for students as part of their curriculum. The Department also encourages the staff members to pursue Ph. D programmes to improve their academic qualifications.
The department periodically organizes workshops and arranges guest lectures by external faculty, industry persons for the benefit of the students and faculty. The department periodically conducts Technical Seminar/Quizzes, remedial classes for the weak students and also Communication Skill development classes for the benefit of Students. The students have consistently performed well in the University Examinations. The students are actively participating in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and bagged many prizes.
Few projects of final year students have been sponsored by KSCST and bagged many prizes in the State level project exhibitions held at various colleges affiliated to VTU. Students are placed in many of the good companies throughout India and abroad.
The Department is having an Association of Staff & Students i.e. EESSA (Electrical & Electronics Staff & Students Association). The association was formed in the year 1999 the sole purpose of the Association is to provide platform for students to exhibit their talents in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Association is conducting many activities like paper presentation, quiz, trouble shooting competition, cricket Match etc. Under the support of EESSA, Department magazine and news letters are being released regularly.
