M.Tech. Programme in Thermal Engineering
Duration:Two Years with four semesters. (Admissions open for the batch 2017- 18) Elibility: 50% of the marks in aggregate of all years/semisters of the Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/ Aeronautical/ Automobile/ Automation and Robotics /Aerospace/ lndustrial & Production Engineering With a valid PGCET/GATE score. However, in case of Karnataka candidates belonging to SC/ST and Group I, the aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examination shall not be less than 45%.
About Thermal Engineering : M.Tech (Thermal Engineering) is a two years full time program affiliated to V.T.U.,Belagavi .lt covers the various aspects of Thermal Engineering. The curriculums is deslgned to give the sound theoretical kno pledge in the subjects like Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer. Students can pursue for their academic achievements through research in various fields like Micro and Mini Hydel Power Plants , Compact Heat Exchangers . Cooling System for Nuclear Power Plants, Alternate Fuels for I.C. Engines . Cyrogenics, Thermal Analysis of Various Systems, Heat Transfer in Nano fluids , Heat Transfer in Multiphase Flows. Fluidized Bed Combustion , Cooling of Solar Photo Voltaic Systems . Conjugate Heat Transfer in Low and High Speed Flows, Gas Turbine Blade Cooling and Harnessing the Renewable Energy.

Facilities available in the Institute: Alternative fuel for I.C. Engine lab has been set up with the kind support of VGST.,Govt of Karnataka under the programme K—FIST. A VCR Engine with data acquisition system and a gas analyzer have been procured.Other necessary equipments like smoke meter, thermal camera, Wind tunnel, Matlab Simulation software are being planned to be procured from the continued support of VGST. and Institution A Research lab with advanced computing facility is set up.
